Description
Choose One Session or Two — Same Price, Same Value
Create a festive ceramic snowman in this beginner-friendly hand-building workshop. This class offers two participation options at the same price, allowing you to choose the experience that best fits your schedule and interests.
Both options include the same materials, firings, and finishing work — the difference is simply whether you glaze the piece yourself or have it professionally glazed by the studio.
What You’ll Make
Each participant will hand-build one ceramic snowman from stoneware clay. The project is designed to be approachable for beginners while still allowing room for personality and detail.
Option 1: One-Session Snowman Workshop
Build Once — Studio Glazed
Attend one guided studio session where you’ll build and decorate your snowman. After class, your piece will be carefully dried, fired, and glazed by the studio in a classic seasonal finish.
This option is ideal if you:
Can’t return for a second session
- Prefer a one class commitment
- Want a professionally finished piece but choose not to glaze it yourself
✔ One guided studio session (approx. two hours)
✔ All materials, glazing, and firing included
✔ Studio-applied glaze
✔ Finished piece ready for pickup in two weeks.
Option 2: Two-Session Snowman Workshop
Build + Glaze It Yourself
Attend two guided sessions. In the first, you’ll build your snowman from clay. Your piece will then be dried and bisque-fired in the studio.
At the second session, Iyou’ll return to glaze your snowman yourself, choosing colors and finishes to personalize your piece before it receives its final firing.
This option is ideal if you:
- Want to experience the full pottery process
- Enjoy hands-on detail work
- Prefer to glaze your own piece
✔ Two guided studio sessions
✔ All materials and firing included
✔ Hands-on glazing instruction
✔ Finished piece ready for pickup approx. two weeks after glazing
Pricing
$50 per person
(Same price for both options — pricing reflects materials, studio time, firings, and finishing labor.)
So why are they the same price?
1-Part price you are paying for less class time and studio use and adding the cost of the studio glazing your piece.
2-Part price includes more class time and instruction, use of studio and materials.
Important Notes
- Finished work will be ready for pickup approximately two weeks after the final step. Please call if you haven't heard from me in two weeks.
- Snowman size will be approximately 5” tall
- Due to the nature of ceramics, slight variations and imperfections are part of the handmade process
- Creativity is encouraged! The allotted studio time is based on the project example but unique is wonderful and fun! If you'd like to get a little crazy adding your special touches to your project, please let me know in advance. (The more you add, the more glazing required also.) We need to make sure my schedule permits reaching beyond the scope of time allotted for your project prior to your registering.
- Lastly, if you are registering guests other than yourself, please make sure they understand what they are attending and what you are responsible for.
Equipment & Materials
- I provide you with the materials and step by step instruction you need to complete your project. The studio has a large variety of texture tools, stamps, cutters and rollers to help you create your pottery.
- Whether you are creating a low-fire project or a mid-fire project, the studio has many paintbrushes and glaze colors for you to choose from, and guidance with glazing the project as outlined. “To glaze” in our case simply means to brush glaze on your pottery once it’s been fired to bisque.
What is the difference between a One-Part and a Two-Part Workshop?
- A one-part workshop is you are creating either all or part of the process involved in one workshop.
- One-part workshops can be:
- glazing (painting) a pre-made piece, or
- you would come and create the piece, choose your glazes, and leave it with your instructor to finish or
- Do both creating and glazing in one visit instead of two.
- A two-part workshop involves the making, and then the glazing, in two visits.
- Pottery must be completely dry all the way through before it can be placed in the kiln for bisque firing. Typical wait time is about 10 days possibly less depending on what we are making. We set a date to glaze when you finish the 1st workshop.
- Once glazed, it's fired again, and then ready for you to take home.
- All pottery left at the studio will be donated after 30 days. Shipping can be arranged.
Pottery Studio & Workshop Policies
Cost For Extra Time
- Each workshop has a pre-set amount of time allotted for the project including instruction and cleanup.
- A 2-part workshop will have separate and predetermined number of hours for both steps.
- Project times are shown in each workshop listing and are based on the average time needed to create the particular workshop being taught.
- If you need more time for your project, it is an additional cost. This is not to rush you out of the studio, I encourage creativity and love seeing what you make. Some people want more time, and some people just run over. Extra time fee covers studio time, materials, and electricity.

- Please pay any additional fee at that time.
