Workshop Details

This project has a group size of max. 6

Please contact me if you would like to schedule this workshop.

The second part of this workshop needs to be scheduled at least 10 days after you've made your fish. 10 days is the approximate time needed to allow for enough dry time before I can put it in the kiln. You can book part 2 free of charge immediately following the workshop purchase. The signup schedule can be located on the pottery workshop page.  Please schedule this as soon as you possibly can. Projects are not kept after 30 days.

*Important* Please read the entire description before purchasing as there are no refunds for pottery workshops.

What You’ll Make

Each student will hand-build one (1) ceramic fish from stoneware clay. The fish measures approximately. 13” inches by 7" inches. This project is designed to be approachable for beginners as long as they can follow basic instructions of clay and glaze characteristics taught in this workshop. while still allowing room for personality and detail.

The fish are left to dry at the studio then bisque fired and ready for the second part of the workshop, which is where the glazing takes place. We will set up this return time for glazing at your first visit.

Price includes:

  • instructions on clay characteristics as they pertain to creating this project
  • studio use
  • 2.5 hours first class
  • return time of 3 hours for glazing
  • clay
  • use of studio tools
  • wide variety of textures
  • two kiln firings.

$55 per person

I will do an example of the basic shape while you watch then allow you to advance in designing/decorating the project as you feel comfortable. Helping as needed.

Important Notes

  • Finished work will be ready for pickup approximately two weeks after glazing.
  • Due to the nature of ceramics, slight variations and imperfections are part of the handmade process. Safety is priority and instruction is provided to ensure food safety of this project.
  • Creativity is encouraged! The allotted studio time is based on the project example but unique is wonderful and fun! If you'd like to get a little crazy adding your special touches to your project, please let me know in advance. (The more you add, the more glazing required also.) We need to make sure my schedule permits reaching beyond the scope of time allotted for your project prior to going full Picasso.
  • Lastly, if you are registering guests other than yourself, please make sure they understand what they are attending and the time frames involved.
  • The studio DOES NOT hold projects for more than 30 days after your workshop if arrangements have not been made. Please make sure you've scheduled and finished glazing within that time frame.
